I suggest two things: First verify the version of Firefox by using Help > About. Look at the date following the word "Gecko". You want one at least as new as 20090624.
Second carefully repeat the install in new profile procedure and be sure to install and test Firebug before adding any other extension. If this fails, you can try the following: Install 1.5X version from http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.5X Open Firefox on URL "about:config" Find preference extensions.firebug.DBG_ERRORS, set it to true Find preference extensions.firebug.DBG_INITIALIZE, set it to true exit Firefox Start Firefox from the operating system command line with option "- console -jsconsole".
