This has been true for all versions of Firebug as far as I know.

I don't believe that is true or relevant. The Firebug user community
is amazingly diverse and anyway a web page debugger needs to be good
at all aspects of web site debugging.

But the current version is 1.4, and our goal is for Firebug to be
excellent so we will continue to change it going forward.

To the best of our knowledge all requests are tracked in the Net
panel.
If you have a specific bug you can post it to the issues list:
http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/list

Note that limitations in Firefox prevent us from giving a complete
account of cached files. We can't actually tell you about them
correctly using Firefox 3.5.

The 1.4 Net panel is more accurate than the 1.3 Net panel. More
improvements are planned.

The total time it takes for Firebug to analyze pages depends on two
factors: the size of the page times the overhead of Firebug. While
Firebug's overhead may have increased, the size of web pages is
growing much more quickly.

If you have specific evidence of where Firebug 1.4 takes too much time
we would be interested.

Huh? Which conclusion should we come to?

Firebug Statusbar Icon right click "On For all Web Pages"

I appreciate your civil request but we made this mistake and now too
many folks have opposite opinion.
