At first I thought so, but I read and followed the directions from John Barton and my problems went away. I also updated from FF 3.0,x to 3.5. Everything is working flawlessly now. I was apprehensive of the 'new profile' thing because it eliminated all the history, cookies, bookmarks, and so on that I had. The docs from Mozilla explained how I could move certain files from one profile folder to the other, and I got all my settings back. And Firebug continued to work fine.
