Yes, instead of opening the UI, watch Firebug status bar icon. - If it's gray, Firebug is deactivated for the current site. - If it's orange, Firebug is activated for the current site.
Hovering mouse over the icon shows a tooltip with summary info. > Moreover, the "on/off for all pages" and "enable/disable all tabs" > options make this a major UI problem. > Otherwise the dev team have made some good improvements. Yes, one change we made (based on feedback) is removing "on/off for all pages" options so the logic is as follows: - Firebug is deactivated by default. - Firebug remembers active sites. When the sites starts to load, Firebug opens if it was active last time. As an addition to this, there is also a new option "Activate by Default", which allows to have Firebug active for all sites by default and black list specific sites (as e.g. gmail.com) using the Off button. Try http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.5X/firebug-1.5X.0a23.xpi + http://getfirebug.com/releases/firestarter/1.5/fireStarter-0.1.a3.xpi Firestarter implements "Activate by Default" and logging of black/ white listed sites in to the Console panel. We are using this extension as an incubator for better/advanced activation features. The most successful features can be backported into Firebug. Not sure what is wrong with "Enable/Disable All Panels". Note that disabling of individual panels can be useful in many cases (page designers usually don't need debugger and network monitor). Also it's useful to have quick way how to enable/disabled them all at once.
