When a change to the DOM is made, it is not always reflected in the Firebug DOM tab. If you click the arrow next to the tab's label, the bottom option is "Refresh".
So to clarify, I am talking about refreshing Firebug's view of the live DOM, not refreshing the DOM itself. Thanks!
