Yes, this the the time required to create TCP connection.

Yes, this could be perhaps displayed at the first position. I'll check
this yet.

It actually is (in the timeline, not in the info tip), if a request is
sitting in a queue waiting for an available connection (there are max
6 connection created at a time in Firefox) the DNS Lookup and
Connection times are zero (since an existing connection is reused).
This time is called "Blocking" in Firebug 1.5.

An important bug has been fixed in Firefox 3.7 (I hope will be
backported also to Fx 3.6) and Firebug 1.5 is now using a new
component to get precise times.

I would recommend to try following configuration:
