Firebug has three red buttons on the upper right corner, minimize, open in new window, and off. Control - F12 opens in new window. F12 first opens then toggles minimize/unminimze. I don't know what is Pin/Unpin. If you don't see three buttons, then your configuration files are messed up. I suggest you install Firebug in a new Firefox profile.
