Don't bother with un/re install of Firefox or Firebug. Very unlikely to have any effect. Open url "about:support". Check that you understand everything you see there. Open Firefox > Tools > Error Console. Check for Firebug related errors. Firebug's tracing will only tell you that Firebug is broken, something you already know. The problem is some kind of interference.
