I can't reproduce that. Here is what I am doing:

1) Open the command line in the Script panel
2) Write "1+2" expression in to the command line, press enter
3) The displayed results is:

By "this button" you mean the Firebug icon in Firefox status bar?
You could also try: "Reset All Firebug Options".
