One solution is simply to restart the browser every day.

If you want to investigate, try to find a site and a set of Firebug
options which show the greatest effect. The options include which
panels are enabled and which ones you have opened. Start by resetting
all options before each test run using Firebug Icon Menu > Options >
Reset All.

Note that Firefox caches pages and Firebug must hang on to memory for
anything in the cache. So you might experiment with Firefox cache
setting.
