I have just tested Firefox 5 + Firebug 1.7.3 combo and works for me. Please, try to create a new Firefox profile and install only Firebug into it to avoid collision with another extension. http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#Installing_in_a_clean_profile
