Hi, I am also seeing this sort of issue since Firebug updated it's self to 1.8.
I have reset my profile then re-installed firebug and associated we dev tools now every time I F12 to view the scripts i am working with I just get a message saying "Debugger not activated". After reinstallation it appeared to be working as normal until I did a refresh to see sources, well if the sources are hidden behing this message then they aren't very visible. I am using (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0) The other thing I noticed is that the Icon vanished from the add-ons toolbar with no discernable way of restoring it.
