OK, this is just getting wierder. I had reverted to Firebug 1.7.3 so re-installed Firebug 1.8 & restarted Firefox.
The issue oulined above still occurs on the page you provided when it was the last tab in a list. however, I closed all remaining tabs then restarted Firefox with a single tab and hay presto it started operating as normal. When the issue was showing it was accross my colegues machines aswell, when it does this it's accross any web page. I'll see if I can get something publicly available if you think it'll help? I am currently trying to get it to reproduce, so far to no avail with the active states working from the begining.
