What exactly should I do to see the problem?

I tried following:

1) Open Firebug
2) Load www.google.com
2) Select the HTML panel
3) Use the Inspector to pick the "Google Search" button
4) Changed the 'color' property to 'red'
5) Text in the buttons is red

So, it seems to be working for me.
