Adblock plus and HTML validator, are the only other extensions I use.
And I can't do without those either.
1.8.2 seems to be working for me now (not sure about breakpoints). And
thats how it'll stay. For now at least.
I'm quite busy developing a couple of sites - don't really have the time
to do testing, enabling and disabling things - let alone create new
users - to get the tools for my work functioning.

If you have any other Firefox extension installed in you current
Firefox profile (especially some Firebug extensions not adapted
to Firebug 1.9) you could try to disable them and see if it helps.
Also, you could try to create a new Firefox profile and install
only Firebug into it.

I don't see any problems on my machine.
If you have any specific scenario that doesn't work for you,
please post it here and I'll check it on my machine.

And actually it's not 1.8.3 but 1.8.2 I have (1.8.3 was the one, that
didn't find js if there were errors in the js code).

Rolling back to FB1.8.3 it does do it however.
Do you have any other Firefox extensions installed?
If yest, try to disable them and check again.
