For inline styles (= "style" attribute changes) and inserted/deleted 
external stylesheets you can use mutation observers, and for catching 
Firebug's changes (for the cases where Firebug is installed) you can listen 
to the "onCSSRemoveProperty" etc. events. I don't know about any APIs that 
help otherwise.

Did you test that console.log actually existed (and didn't throw an 
exception) in your original CSSStyleSheet.prototype.insertRule-hooking 
routine?
