Same situation for me. Running OS X10.8.3 and Firefox 21.0 I get lots of spinning beach balls when Firebug is activated on a page. I'm not doing anything special in particular outside of viewing a website with Firebug open. Doesn't seem to matter which tab is highlighted. Is there anything else I can give you to help debug the problem?
