Ok, I did all that - and the error didn't occur in the other profile. I've
tested it in my newly created and completed .user profile, and the .blank
one (only FF/FB) I've created before. In addition, I've tried both versions
with the "faulty" firefox directory copied over - same result. The error
still appears in the .default profile (just to make sure I'm not nuts) -
anything else to do?
At least I've enhanced my skills, and everything is working fine in a clean
'n fresh profile ;-)

You can try to copy over the prefs.js to the new profile and check if
the error reappears. But don't forget to backup your original prefs.js of
that profile first!
If you see the error again, you can mail me the prefs.js. Note that it
can contain private data, so you shouldn't post it here.
