I have seen this problem before. I got a similar notice with my cable
provider. Speaking with one of the supervisors personally (Being a personal
friend) aathe rationality as explained to me was that a cable modem is ONLY
FOR PERSONAL use. Connecting via VPN or other means signifies that you are
using their service for BUSINESS. HOWEVER, They do not check packets or log
what you are doing. It is also quite possible that you are not even allowed
to host a personal website from your home system. As I am limited to these
conditions as well, I can say from experience, I have used a cable modem
for a couple of years now using a VPN to connect to work, and also hosting
my own personal website (Averaging a whole 20-30 hits a day.) as well as
e-mail, and proxy for 2 of my personal machines. All I can say is, I am
not utilizing large amounts of bandwidth, and I have NOT had any issues
with my cable company about my use of their service.
