Hello all,

Has anyone out there worked with both Cisco PIX and Firewall 1? I am
working on a firewall 1 HA Nokia implementation, and our Cisco rep wants me
to consider PIX as well.

The Nokia HA Firewall1 gives me application proxies, VPN, fault tolerance,
load balancing, and a proven product all in one nice package. Apparently
Cisco requires that you buy local director, and some other pieces to
accomplish the same thing.

I did not think PIX was that widely accepted in the security community, and
I am aware of it's recent problems, but my rep contends that they are #2 for
market share right behind FW1 and gaining.. I was a little surprised by
that. I know they (Cisco) can be VERY price competitive (they offered to
"buy" our current firewalls), but I want to know how the two score head to
head, feature for feature.

I have to have 24/7, 100% bomb-proof uptime, and whatever I choose, it needs
to be VERY secure (this is a state agency I am working for). Speed is not
my top concern (which seems to be a huge selling point for PIX). I also
want something easily managed (filters, etc.) and I know Firewall 1 had LDAP
integration (PIX??).

Thank you.
