Brent,

We've used Sidewinder for three years at four sites worldwide, connected
via VPN, and have had no major problems. The only problems we have
experienced were those common to all proxy based firewalls; mainly dynamic
port allocation. Other than that it's straight forward and fairly easy to
configure with excellent security features. One more note the Air Force Air
Mobility Command has chosen Sidewinder as its firewall of choice. If you
have specific questions please e-mail me in private

Bill

Subject: Secure Computing Sidewinder

Does anyone out there have (much) experience with
Secure Computing's Sidewinder and what is the
general opinion on what it's good for, if anything?

We use it here at TASB but I haven't had oodles of
experience with firewalls and have rarely seen any
mention of Secure Computing on this list, let alone
specific products. I know it's an application-proxy-
type firewall but wondered what experiences anyone
else has had with it, good or bad.

Thanks for any input or recommendations on
Sidewinder (or competing products, for that matter).
