That statement is quite right...
We evaluated Checkpoint-1, Borderware and some others and finally stated, that
the Cisco Centri Firewall was the most apropriate for us. Installing was
nightmare, the 'service' crashed several times a day under heavy load. Finally
we decided to switch to another platform that won't crash any longer.
Now Cisco has announced the "End-of-life" of this firewall to get the customers
use their own products (IOS, PIX). We're using now OpenBSD and Linux and we are
happy with. Uptimes up to 150 days without a crash and without any reboots.
True, we had to get knowledge about the internals of firewalls, internals of
TCP/IP etc. but now I'm happy to be able to configure as I'd like to and not how
the click-and-point-interface forces me to.
That's freedom :-)
