DSL,Hub

I am building a small(5 computer) setup for my home office. I just got DSL
installed and built a seperate box with 2 NIC's ( in anticipation of
setting up FW and MAsQ).

My question is, how secure is it to run from the DSL modem into my Ethernet
hub. Or should I just run a dedicated crossover direct to the PC. I
am(obviously) not that knowledgeable about Hardware layers and what is
passed.
