Hello Everyone,
I have a situation that perhaps someone can help me with. I'm
testing this VPNremote Client Software for my work and the software works
fine if I'm not behind a firewall. I use linux with masquerading at home
and I've been trying to get the VPNremote client to work throught the
firewall to no avail.
Here is one of the FAQ's from
http://www.vpnet.com/support/faqtxt.htm#clnt-06
>How do I get VPNremote Client to communicate with a VSU through a filtering
router or a >firewall?
>The current VPNremote Client uses SKIP to communicate with VPN devices. For
VPNremote to >communicate with the VSU, the router or firewall must be
configured to pass IP protocol 57 and TCP >port 1443
I can portforward TCP port 1443 but does anyone know how to "pass IP
protocol 57" ? I've tried adding it to the protocols file, but I'm not
sure that does anything. I've tried compiling in "generic masq suport" and
used protocol 57 but that's experimental. When I try to access the remote
servers, tcpdump on the internal interface (192.168.0.*) reports it trying
to use "ip-protocol-57" but I'm not sure that the linux box knows how to
handle it. Tcpdump on the external interface doesn't say anything about the
VPN client's attempts to access my servers at work.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
