They didn't used to, but there have been a lot of changes in Intellectual
Property laws recently, and I haven't kept up on them.  Cyberia would
probably be a good place to ask that question, as it's frequented by a
fair number of lawyers.

RSA's position was that commercial users of the algorithm had to pay
rather significant fees if they didn't develop with BSAFE last I checked.

I'd rather go twofish or blowfish than DES at the moment, though with an
Open Source implementation of DES, I'm much happier than with a
proprietary library that could possibly be trojaned.
