That is absolutely correct, IDS systems can be used to gauge the health of 
a particular security architecture or network.  The more alert/events one 
gets, the sicker a network can be.  There are a lot sick networks out 
there.  Maybe Medicare should start offering discounts on healthcare for 
networks.   :)
