In response to the original poster's question, which BTW was NOT a request for advice on the best term emulators/best OS's etc etc,

but simply asked what the break combo is under hypertrm. Ignoring all the trippers off in Linux/Telix/paperclip/teraterm/SecureVRT land...

Break seems to work under win9x. the NT hypertrm doesn't behave the same way. I use win2k here which is the same but different :)

The break combo under hypertrm is CTRL-SHIFT-6 then X. I can't remember the exact correct sequence, just press those keys together at boot lots of times :)

If still trouble and you want to use hypertrm (I do, it's fine once you know how to drive it...), perhaps try the update for HyperTerminal from www.hilgraeve.com. It's a trial bersion of HyperAccess, their full-blown terminal app. HyperTerminal Private edition it's called.

But the key combo is definitely as described as above - I've been in the same situation, and since terminating every copy of Win9x in the office I found it was good for SOMETHING... ctrl-break ;)

hth, oh and you might want to try xxOS, and maybe yyTerminal, and perhaps try ZZ gauge wire.... <chuckle>
