No, not really. It's actually under-engineered :)
(unless you count all the oddball add-ons like "site exec"
and friends, but that's not really official FTP)
Hint: FTP pre-dates TCP.
Go read the original FTP RFC and you'll see why
the connection dancing was such a good idea back then.
Then apply TCP to the idea, and you'll see what
_could_ have been done to FTP, but never was.
