<begin rant, whine, cry, whatever>

A quick search on google for "port 27374" turned up 396 hits in 0.68
seconds. Please do a 'little' research first. I don't mind helping out,
filling in the gaps, etc., however IMO it's a waste of time to help someone
who doesn't even attempt to look it up. Don't get me wrong, I am all for
helping out the new guys (and I consider myself one). We already get a lot
of the same questions over and over again, but at least they're good
questions that require a bit of thought and experience to grasp properly (or
at least start a good debate). I understand wanting to get a quick answer
and you don't have time to dig through a bunch of articles, but the _TOPICS_
that are found by this search answer the question.

I had a Calculus prof that wouldn't help you work something out unless you
had at least a few lines of an attempt to do the problem first. I think
that should apply here. I encourage everyone to ask questions, but try to
figure it out yourself first. You'll learn more in the end and you'll save
us all some time.

While I'm at it...

Everyone on this list that doesn't have a copy of "Building Internet
Firewalls" from O'Reilly should order it now (not next week). The answers
to a good portion of the stuff I see on this list is in that book. There
are a few others to have, but if you're new to this stuff, it is the BEST
place to start (IMO).

I may be the only one that feels this way and I'll shut up from now on if
that's the case. I haven't been flamed lately, so I thought this might
change that. :)

<stop rant, whine, cry, whatever>
