The Nokia platform is FreeBSD, rather heavily customized I
believe.

I have experience with Checkpoint on Sun and Nokia and I
can tell you that I MUCH prefer Nokia.  The platform is
designed to run Firewall-1.  That's a far cry from Solaris.

The Nokia can backup configurations, run VRRP, has stateful 
failover built-in, can do OSPF, BGP, etc.  You can hot-swap
network modules too.

Nokia support is pretty good also.

Personally I think Nokia vs. Sun is hardly even a question!
