I have dealt with Checkpoint on both the Nokia and Sun. In my view Nokia is
the far superior platform. Ipso(nokia's os) was, I believe, built around
checkpoint, not the other way around. This design lends itself to better
interaction between the OS and checkpoint, which I have found allows better
through-put. Is am not trying to bash Sun, but with the added features of
the Nokia; VRRP, OSPF, BGP, dynamic failover of hardware, and Hot swapable
network modules to name a few, I think that the decision is a no brainer.

Subject: Sun v Nokia

Has anyone made a comparison of Firewall1 on a Nokia v Firewall1 on a
Sun
platform ? I am aware of the TCO issues, having read the undoubtedly
impartial white paper from Nokia, but what about the technical merits of
each ? Have also been given conflicting info ref the Nokia OS - is this
NT
or FreeBSD ?

Thanks / Mark
