On our Checkpoint firewalls we use somekind of community string and the IP
address 
of the SNMP system (HP OV) to send the snmp traps to and from...

Dunno if you have done this, but it works fine on our CP Firewalls

(and ofcourse a snmp rule in the rulebase)
