binary does't mean encrypted. so either the DAT contain a signature or an 
ecnryption
thing using a serious algo with a solid key, or it is an 'arbitrary' 
representation of
data, and in the latter, nothing prevents from modifying it. it's just a 
matter of guessing
the format.
