Very late response; I've been idling on my fw@gnac reading
for the past couple of months (got 3500 unread posts now).
This post just came to my attention by way of a friend
(well, more than one, in fact), and I must say that I find
it hilariously amusing to see an employee of a respectable
multinational firewall vendor slander another vendor, by
way of unfounded speculation and FUD in this manner.
And, well, shoot me, but I just can't let these
allegations go by unchallenged.

If you'd done your homework, you'd know that the
answer is, simply put, "yes", but since we haven't
targeted the US market at all so far, I guess it's
understandable.
Actually, we've even been helping to solve the problems
of _your_ customers, as your developers called me to
discuss the FTP active mode vulnerabilities from last
year (which, by the way, you haven't completely solved
yet, I might add). I happily contributed my two cents,
and will again if/when I or anyone else at EnterNet find
something else alarming that concerns products from you
and/or other vendors.
After all, finding a vulnerability is one thing.
Slandering a competitor because of it, or making unfair
use of knowledge of said vulnerability is quite another.
So, to sum this up, I hope we can stay away from the
public mud slinging / pissing contest in the future. Should
you feel compelled to discuss this further, you are very
welcome to do so in private e-mail. And, I promise, should
you somehow manage to convince me that we stink as bad as
you made it out to look in your post, I will make public
recompense and withdraw to a life of growing spuds, or
somesuch.

Mikael Olsson
(Back to idling. I guess I'll find time to read
all these fw@gnac posts _some_ day soon.)
