Hi,

As we look for a replacement for our sloooow 56k Frame Relay Internet access
line for our company ($377/month), I found that DSL service is not yet
available in my area, but, a company called CAIS Internet is offering me
satellite access for $329 a month at speeds "ranging from 384kbps to 768kbps
to 1mbps to 1.5mbps - it will change all the time".

This sounds interesting. It would entail putting a VSAT box in our building,
connected to a dish outside. My question is, has anyone tried this
technology, and if so, any comments? The sales guy said it's about as
reliable as my frame connection. We would need very limited downtime (we're
probably at 1day/year of downtime right now with our Frame line). He also
said this technology is quite new - having been introduced in December of
2000. Having not seen much about it, I was wondering what comments you
guys/gals may have about it. Also, anyone have any thoughts about CAIS? I
can't even tell where they're located from the email.

Thanks,

Evan
