You dont need to hack the Kernel. There are a lot of possibilities to get IP
Infos into User Level. This includes TUN/TAP devices or setting up faked
slip serial devices on pseudo ttys. Have a look on vtun, tunnelv,
ppp-over-ssh and slirp for examples.
