On Linux boxes with pppd bringing up the link, you can use the ip-up and
ip-down scripts to adapt the rules. They are passed the name, IP address,
subnet mask and two or three other parameters, so you don't even have the
sed and awk around with the output of ifconfig to get that information. Try
'man pppd'. This also works with ISDN, as ipppd works pretty much the same
as pppd.
