David,

If you are going to use a Linksys as a router, might as well do the family.  I have used the Linksys WAP11 with good success.  However, do not go with the Dell cards.  Use the Linksys PCMCIA cards.  Although they are supposed to be identical, the WAP11 seems to have problems with the Dell.  WAP11 run at 10Mpbs on radio side.  I suggest your Linksys router be 10/100 switch.  If you want to secure it one more step, slot a Watchguard SOHO between the modem and the switch.

    DSL provisioner --> DSL router(modem) --> Linksys Switch ---> WAP11  |||||||||| PCMCIA  ]Dell

Make sure you respect the cabling if SOHO added.

Should be OK for Dells.  Cannot answer for MAC.

 Have a user that needs access from home. We have a good VPN solution here, so that is not a problem.

Question is on her side. She is getting Earthlink DSL installed (now) and suddenly she realized she need to connect her 3 machines to the DSL. Needs to be a wireless solution.  Machines are an old Dell latitude CPI, a MAC 6500, and a new Dell laptop.   All suggestions welcome as IT has been asked to wave our magic wand and make this work.Particularly interested in the appliances for the machines. Leaning to Linksys for the router
