Question: this VPN solution _is_ installed on the client machine
itself, correct? And it has firewalling functions for the client
machine too, I hope?

With all the script kiddies doing war driving with WEP crackers, the
"on the client machine itself" becomes a necessity. So, if the client
box itself is properly secured (hopefully allowing only traffic
through the VPN tunnel and none to the local network), adding more boxes
to the local LAN shouldn't make any real difference.
