Sorry, this is a bit off-topic, in regard to your questions.
I've been wondering about the real security of the devices that have
MAC address based filtering as there are NICs that let you change the
MAC address manually. So, while it may hinder the possibilities of
unauthorized use, I would never have the MAC address access list as the
only security measure in place and, would strongly advise against it if
asked, as well.
