the issues are related.
showing the search token is good, but even if i see that, i may have to
scroll because there may be similar long lines.

but before you go any further with this, i just noticed that the search
right now is actually working like that i am asking, ie. it is not
aborting when i scroll left and right. i don't know what was different
before.
