if not, then we could use http://community.gotpike.org/fishshell/ as a
staging area, because there it is easy to add users to allow editing the
pages.

just go to http://community.gotpike.org/register/register_en.html
to register, and once the account is confirmed, go to 
https://community.gotpike.org/groups/fishshell
to join the group, and then to
https://community.gotpike.org/home/fishshell/public/
to start editing pages. they are static html for now and can be edited
in the browser (but watch out for xhtml compliance) 
they can also be downloaded and uploaded with https, webdav or ftp if
desired. the server keeps a history of changes so no need to worry about
messing up edits.
