And you have these scales,
like Mediterranean smoke,
that shine everything off you
into the thirsty world. Actually,
I think you were a cluster
of fairy-blue branches,
all knotted like stories, that
tangled up my hair, in the most
embattling manner.

There are so many words to say,
on the subject of snakes. I used to think
they covered the ground at night,
like a million thin, curled leaves,
and I was terrified by oceanic quantities.
Then I saw green and orange,
threading pretty through the grass,
real! And I dreamed we were drowning,
but I never dreamed that I would
wake up, and you would be across the sea.
I dreamed about tame serpents
but never that you would flicker like this,
never that you would wander
without me, without even inviting me.

So we have another episode, do we?
For total disintigration. I think that you and I
need each other so much, that we need
to loose everything just for the space.
I could only really know you by the highway,
when we were lost, when we ran,
when we were drunk, drunk and drowning,
and biting at coral, when everything
was ruined. Only when I had nothing left,
could I have enough space for
everything you were. So lets leave, again.
You are the only girl I know,
who has a map to Utopia. We drew it
together, before you flew away,
through the grass in the garden.
Isn't snakebite its own antidote?

The sea is full of serpents,
and all my hallucinations and nightmares
were real, and the only way out,
is this blue ship all cobwebbed rigging,
and manned by benevolent snakes.

My cheeks are getting
hollow from all
these days submerged in
saltwater and octopus.
