The possibility of moving the FIX Specification on to FIXwiki was mentioned at the end of the original FIXwiki posting (http://www.fixprotocol.org/discuss/read/9eff71d3). As a trial, a significant part of the specification has been converted and is now available on FIXwiki for general review. Go to www.cameronedge.com/fixwiki, log in and click on the new "FIX specification" link on the navigation bar on the left of each page. The overall structure of the specification is maintained. However I think it is much clearer and more usable in this form. All of Volume 3 (Pre-trade messages) of the specification plus parts of Volume 1 have been converted. Note that the contents of Volume 6 and message definitions from all volumes were already present on the original FIXwiki. The process of converting the specification is a semi automated process, aided by some of the tools used to construct the original FIXwiki. It is tedious work, but it took only a week to get this far. So I think it is perfectly practical to move the whole spec over in a reasonable time frame. I am happy to complete this work and donate it to FPL if the community feels it is worth pursuing. Please take a look at what is there and share your opinions.
