[Flashcoders] Create an Empty MC and assign it to a class?

Thanks in advance for answering this:

I have a class that extends the MovieClip class, and I want to instantiate
it in an empty movieclip.

I tried:

myEmptyMC = new ExtendedMC(_parent.createEmptyMovieClip("foo",1));

But it didn't work.  Any ideas?
