I assume it based on the docs, which you are saying are wrong. I am
happy about that and glad you are clarifying.

But still, I do hope that MM does eventually provide a way to speak to
legacy AMF implementations, including its own Flash Remoting Server
product. To obsolete these servers would I think, not be a good
policy. It sounds like there are plenty of reasons to use FES, but I
would like it to be a choice based on features not a forced
obsolescence play.
