Scott,

Apologies, apologies, apologies. I was not literal enough, I looked at what you wrote and typed in:
        txtNews.selectable = false;
and that did not work.

You protested, I took a second look - what's this ".label" thing? Tried txtNews.label.selectable = false, it worked, thanks.

Can you would kindly explain, where does the ".label" come from? Before I post a question on any list I try a lot of stuff, read docs, check archives, etc. I did not see ".label". Are Macromedia's docs that flaky, or does one really have to know how everything works before the docs make sense? Or am I incredibly naive?

Regards - Miles Thompson

Wait, are you saying my solution didn't work? Because I tested it. It's fine.

Glenn (or Dok?),

Yeah, may or may not be of use is correct.

Once enabled is set to false, selection of the text becomes impossible. It
can can still be scrolled, but of course it's turned light gray, and the
Page Up / Page Down keys no longer work.

Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion. What I am wondering is if it's
possible to "dissect" the control, so the text portion could have its
selectable property set to false. Anyway, it's late and I'm going to bed.

Cheers - Miles
