Not sure actually.  I always do:

my_xml = new XML();
my_xml.ignoreWhite = true;

To ensure whitespace doesn't fubar my parsing.  So, I'd assume yes since 
whitespace is 1 extra thing to parse.

size out.  If there is whitespace in the xml being sent back, could that
