I think that's because only display objects can bubble events, I don't think non-visual classes can bubble events (unless they extend a display object like Sprite, but that's a hack). I don't know why it is this way, but that has been my understanding. I wish non-visual classes could bubble too. If someone knows otherwise, please advise.
