The term vector is also commonly used in GIS/GPS data to define point-to-point line definitions of sampled areas - the connecting lines or arcs between the beginning and end points. Coming from a GIS background, that was the first thing I thought of when I heard of the new Vector array. I thought the same thing, why not call it TypedArray?
